Local news is reporting the recommendation to close Boracay Island in the central Philippines for 6 months to help clean an environmental problem. This proposal is being unanimously supported by all three government agencies evaluating the status of the island as well as Philippines President Duterte to close the entire island from 26 April 2018-October 2018.  This has the potential to disrupt thousands of visitors (domestic and foreign) summer holiday plans.

As our world population grows, so does our need to make sure we do everything in our power to keep our planet healthy.  Recent events on Boracay Island in the Philippines has seen some sad press with news of raw sewage and waste being dumped into the blue waters around this stunning island, which is very sad for this beautiful island and country.
