Top 7 Philippines Islands to Visit After Your Stay in Oslob, Cebu

Are you planning your Philippines Trip and find yourself a bit confused on what Philippines Islands to visit or how to get from one island to the other? The Philippines is made us of more than 7,700 islands and it can be tricky going from point A to point B. Sometimes even finding information online can be tricky. We often have guests asking where we recommend to visit after their stay at Granada Beach Resort.

We have put together this list of the most popular island locations our guests visit after their stay and a quick idea on the easiest way to reach these islands. This is a list for options to reach another island, not another location on Cebu. After all you can just drive across Cebu.

1. Panglao/Alona Beach,
Bohol Island

Just across the Bohol Sea from Oslob and Boljoon is Panglao with the famous Alona Beach on the south tip of Bohol Island. The atmosphere at this popular beach village is a stark contrast to the slow relaxed pace of life we find at Granada Beach Resort and the Oslob area. Many larger resorts line the beach and create the type of atmosphere we often associate with Mexico. Easy access for a day trip or two to see many of the sites Bohol is famous for, such as the Chocolate Hills, Tarsier Sanctuary and Our Lady of Immaculate Conception, Baclayon Church; the oldest church in the Philippines.

Easiest way to get there: Each day (weather permitting) a large Banca Boat leaves Oslob town around 11am. Price P1500pp

Picture this... dark sand beaches disappearing into blue water, palm trees lining the beach and you are soaking it all in. Welcome to Dauin. Slow pace and village life with a wide variety of accommodations. There are also some excellent cafe's and very friendly people to make a visit a wonderful experience.

The highlight for the area is fantastic muck diving (think small, interesting critters) and day trips to snorkel or dive the stunning reefs of Apo Island.

Easiest way to get there: Passenger ferries depart Liloan port every hour to Sibulon Ferry (just north of Dumaguete); Price: P64 per person one way. Once you reach the other side hire a tricycle for around P150 to take you the Dumaguete Bus Station (30 min), then take the bus (45 min).

2. Dauin, Negros Island

Off the beaten path, Siquijor Island boasts some of the clearest water in the Philippines. Slow easy pace of life and see the local Pinoy living in their authentic lifestyle and a plethora of Instagramable Waterfalls. Of course a little ocean cliff jumping into this clear water is a must during your visit.

Easiest way to get there: The Maayo Ro-Ro ferry departs Liloan port for Siquijor every day at 10am. But be on time as this is the only ferry from Southern Cebu. If you miss this ferry you can go to Dumaguete and catch a ferry from Dumaguete Pier.

3. Siquijor Island

White sand beaches and scuba diving with Thresher Sharks... what more can you say?

Easiest way to get there: A very long bus ride, or a transfer car with a 6 hour journey to the north tip of Cebu. Once you arrive there is a short boat ride to get to the island. Please check the ferry times as they do not run all day, and the last ferry can often be in the middle of the afternoon.

4. Malapascua Island,
North Cebu

Over the past several years Palawan has been voted as having the best beaches around the world to go with stunning scenery, perfect to make your friends jelly from your Instagram feed. Take a boat trip from El Nido and kayak through Small Lagoon or snorkel around Big Lagoon. Stunning scenery and boat trips make for some chill ways to take in the scenery and experience the island. Don't forget about the underground river tour.

Easiest way to get there: Air Swift offers the only direct flight from Mactan-Cebu International airport to Porta Princesa.

5. El Nido, Palawan

For the party animal. Say no more. Oh, but I can. Also known for world class kiteboarding and long white sand beaches... but get up early if you want that perfect Instagram photo as the beach can be a very popular place.

6. Boracay Island

Looking for a laid back vibe and the best surfing in the Philippines? Then you'll want to head East to Siagao (pronounced Shar-g-ow). Lots of small hostels, great vibes with cool people.

Did I mention surfing? This is one of the ONLY places in the Philippines to find consistent surfable waves. So grab a board, take a lesson from a local school and hang-10.
